Welcome to the Barn on the Creek
This November we joined 3 other families for our traditional pre-holiday getaway to Oklahoma. Our choice this year is called The Barn on the Creek, in Hochatown, OK – their website is HERE. The Barn on the Creek is a magnificent cabin, spreading over almost 5,000 sq. ft. It has 6 bedrooms and a large bunk room with 12 twin beds, accommodating up to 22 guests. The cabin is equipped with KitchenAid appliances, smart TVs in each room, a 70” TV in the living room, high-speed fiber WiFi, and even a Tesla charger. Guests have access to two game rooms, a 12’ shuffleboard, a pool table, a retro arcade, a hot tub, and outdoor games like horseshoes and corn hole.
The Cabin Experience
Our initial impression of the cabin was that it was a maze that would take forever to figure out. But, it only took us about 30 minutes to familiarize ourselves with its layout. The design is elegantly simple, with each adult suite strategically placed for privacy. The view from the living room’s large windows, showcasing the lush trees and the creek below.
The Interior
The interior of The Barn on the Creek combines rustic elegance with modern comforts. The cabin creates an inviting space for all your guests. As mentioned above, the cabin spans nearly 5,000 sq. ft, and is thoughtfully designed to cater to large groups. Each of the six-plus bedrooms is meticulously furnished, providing a personal retreat for every guest. The large bunk room is a haven for younger guests or large families, turning it into a fun, communal sleeping area.
At the center of the cabin, the open-concept living area allows natural light to flood. The space is enhanced by the warmth of the wooden features. A striking feature of the cabin is the kitchen, which serves as both a cooking spot and a gathering spot for guests to socialize. The loft area adds an extra layer of fun, offering a quaint nook for reading or quiet relaxation.
The sleek design of the kitchen creates a perfect balance between luxury and comfort. Adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area, with its large table and comfortable seating. Included in the living space is a bar, with it’s own fridge, sink and everything you need to make a cocktail or two.
The comfort extends beyond the kitchen and dining area, with each room including smart TVs for personal entertainment. The 70” TV in the living room is ideal for movie nights or catching up on favorite shows. Moreover, the cabin’s inclusion of two full-size washers and dryers ensures that longer stays are as comfortable as possible.
Ambiance and Atmosphere
The cabin provides an inviting and spacious atmosphere, ideal for both relaxation and social gatherings. Regulating the temperature inside the cabin is conveniently simple, making it comfortable from morning to night. The outdoor playground is a delightful feature for younger guests, and there are two fire rings to chose from. The swings on the side of the house offer a fun sitting space while watching a game of horse shoe or corn hole.
The Surrounding Area
Surrounded by dense woods, the cabin is the perfect escape into nature. A trail leads to a creek, which was slightly dry but a nice feature, with a fire ring and some chairs. With the Fall season bringing a cascade of leaves that is very beautiful and slippery LOL. Our neighbors were close but because of the density of the trees, we hardly saw them or heard them. This setting is perfect for all types of retreats, from lively group gatherings to quiet, intimate getaways.
Nearby Attractions
During our stay, we took the opportunity to stroll through the neighborhood, admiring the various houses in the area. Along the highway, a ton of restaurants and bars, offering a range of dining and nightlife options. The Hochatown Saloon is a great place to eat after a day exploring Beavers Bend State Park, which is only a short drive away.
As we said goodbye to The Barn on the Creek, we are leaving feeling relaxed and a ton new memories. Each moment, from quiet mornings watching the woods to fun-filled evenings by the fire pit, was a testament to the cabin’s allure. Whether it was the laughter echoing from the game rooms or the peaceful moments spent in the wooded surroundings, every experience was precious. For those seeking a tranquil yet engaging escape, this haven in Hochatown is a true gem. Perfect for anyone looking for a blend of adventure and relaxation amidst nature. Departing from The Barn on the Creek, we all agreed that this place had exceeded our expectations, leaving us with a promise to return one day.
